What is this?
Let's hit the night ride from sunset to sunrise with illuminated SUP boards down the Gauja canal to the Daugava. Yes, you can reach the Daugava from the Gauja via a specially built and recently restored canal. Our route starts in Gauja, where we'll paddle into the Gauja-Daugava canal, then through Baltezers, Jugla canal, and Ķīšezers to reach the Daugava. A unique route we'll start with the last rays of the sun, paddling under the cover of night in peace. SUP boards will be lit up like Christmas trees, the water calm, and some will finally understand what relaxation and carefree feels like. Along the way, there will be trees, mist, silence, and that strange moment when you realize you're on a SUP board at 3 AM somewhere between Berģi, but it all seems perfectly logical. After all, this is an Adventure.
After the night paddling and around sunrise, we'll finish in Vecmīlgrāvis. After the impressive night, the mind is a bit in space because it was epic.
No one to go with? Often you want to head out for some active fun, but there's no one to join you—friends have other plans, family is busy, and your partner isn't really into it. So feel free to join solo. In our Adventures, you won't feel alone because everyone's on the same path, giving you the chance to have a great time not only in nature but also meeting new people.
Never tried SUP? This Adventure is perfect even for total beginners and those who've never tried SUP, so don't worry. It's okay if you've never SUPed or tried but didn't succeed. We'll show you everything, explain it all, and keep an eye on you during the Adventure. Plus, for your safety on the water, a life jacket will take care of you.
4 reasons to join:
- Night SUPing
- Lit-up SUP boards

- Unusual and unique Adventure

What is the approximate plan?
We meet at 22:00 Start of Gauja Canal (Google map / Waze). It's best to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early, better to be 10 minutes early than 1 minute late. Here we organize part of the group's car logistics to the finish. Once logistics are "DONE", the sunset is enjoyed, and the sun is bid farewell, we are ready to start the night SUP Adventure on illuminated SUP boards. The group leader gives a brief but valuable SUP instruction and water safety tips, and we can enjoy the SUP Adventure. New friends to meet, old friends to hang out with, and a night full of energy on SUP boards and water for all of us. After approximately ~23km and around sunrise, we finish. The finish time is unpredictable, and we'll finish when we finish, but we aim for around 06:00. The adventure concludes, and everyone heads home.
What time do we meet? We meet at 22:00. It's best to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early, better to be 10 minutes early than 1 minute late.
Our starting or meeting point: Start of Gauja Canal (Google map / Waze)
How to get there?
How long will the distance be? Altogether, it's planned to be around ~23km, slowly and leisurely.
What time will we finish? We'll finish when we finish, as it all depends on our own leisurely pace, but the planned finish time is by 06:00.
What do you need to bring? Mugurā jāvelk laikapstākļiem atbilstošs apģērbs. Labāk uzvilkt kādu lieku jaku un pēc tam to novilkt, nekā salt. It īpaši šķērsojot atklātākas vietas var uznākt kāda vēja brāzma. Apģērbam jābūt ērtam, jo notiek diezgan aktīva kustēšanās jeb airēšana. Citreiz arī kājas mēdz būt slapjas. It īpaši uzkāpjot un nokāpjot no SUP dēļa, tāpēc jāpadomā ko vilkt kājās atbilstoši laikapstākļiem. Papildus ieteicams ir arī rezerves apģērbs, ko pārvilkt, ja gadījumā sanāk samērcēties.
The plan is just a rough outline and there might be changes, but overall it will be as described above.
How does a SUP Adventure happen?
The SUP Adventure happens with SUP boards, meaning it's a paddleboarding Adventure where we paddle along a cool route. Our SUP boards are each designed for 1 person, meaning they're single-seaters. On some SUPs, there can be 2 people, meaning they're double-seaters, but in such cases, you must contact us BEFORE signing up for the Adventure, as their number is VERY limited.
We each carry all the gear needed for the adventure on our own SUP board, and there's plenty of space on it. Of course, there's only enough space if the amount is reasonable, not if you've brought a toaster, hairdryer, washing machine, and grandma's hope chest. In that case, you'll need to think about what to leave on the shore.
Before the Adventure, we meet at the pre-arranged spot and organize car shuttling to the end, where they wait for us when we finish the Adventure. You can totally go on this Adventure solo or with one of your group buddies. You can find more info about the logistics in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of this Adventure.
Who will be the group leader?
The leader of this Adventure group and your companion will be Adventure Maker Raimonds. This means you'll have a hand to hold while climbing a mountain, a shoulder to lean on before a daring thrill, or a buddy to hit up local parties with. Those who've been on an Adventure with him know you'll head where you probably shouldn't, do things you probably shouldn't do, and it'll be awesome - it'll be ADVENTURES.
What else should I know?
If you're inclined to whine and be grumpy about little things, then this won't be the right Adventure, as it spoils both the group's microclimate and the mood of other group members. That's why we want to see positive adventurers on our Adventures. The group leader won't "babysit" the picky folks but will simply ignore them to focus on those who want to enjoy the Adventure. The group is small, which usually turns into a very friendly company, so it's not the right place for those who want to "pick fights."
We also recommend checking out the frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions:
1. What do I need to bring?
CLOTHING - You'll definitely need weather-appropriate and event-appropriate clothing. Dressing for the weather means checking the forecast the day before the event and preparing your outfit accordingly. If it's raining, wear something rainproof, and if the sun's shining, dress so you're not too hot or cold, etc. Make sure you're comfortable. Also, remember a change of clothes, as this Adventure is on the water and you might get wet. In short, your clothing list might look like this: clothes for water activities, like a swimsuit in warm weather, long pants (ideally waterproof overpants) in cold weather, a sweater/jacket, suitable footwear, and a towel will be handy. Then clothes for when the wind picks up and spare clothes for after the event (in case of an unexpected swim). And it's important to be prepared for rain with a rain jacket, because you never know.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS - insect repellent (if it's "mosquito season"), sunscreen (if sunny weather is expected), a thermos with a drink (if not included in the Adventure), snacks (if not included in the Adventure), etc.2. How do we get to the Adventure and back?
Getting to the Adventure start is with your own private transport. If you don't have your own private transport, it's possible to team up and go with other participants of this event. Before the Adventure, we'll try to organize and help so those who drive with their own transport can pick up those who don't, as this way it's possible to share fuel costs (win-win). If this option doesn't suit you, it's possible to go by public transport.
3. Can I go alone?
You can definitely join by yourself. On the contrary, many people go solo and in that case, you'll have the chance to meet new friends or maybe even find your other half 😉
4. Can beginners join the activity?
The SUP Adventure is meant for everyone - both those who paddle with a SUP board from morning till night, and those who've never done it before. We'll show, explain, and teach everything.
5. Are there any height and weight restrictions?
Our SUPs have a limited capacity, so the weight limit is 120kg. There are no height restrictions, at least we haven't noticed it being important.
6. Can I join with my own SUP board?
You can definitely join us with your own SUP board, in that case, the Adventure price will be 15EUR, but drop us a private message so we can sort out the details.
7. How do I sign up if I want to participate with my own personal SUP board?
Currently, it's not possible to sign up on our website if you're not using the full package, so drop us a message via email or WhatsApp and we'll sort it out.
8. How to sign up for an Adventure?
You can sign up for the trip on our website by clicking the "SIGN UP" button and filling out the application form located under the Adventure description. Since there are many interested, but not all are actual travelers, an advance payment is required to confirm participation in the Adventure. The amount of the advance payment depends on the specific Adventure. By paying this advance, your spot in the Adventure is confirmed. If you cancel your participation in the Adventure, the advance payment is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to confirm participation in another trip.
9. How long can I think about it if I want to sign up?
You can think about it as long as there are spots available. After that, you can keep thinking, but there won't be any spots left on the trip.
10. Is there anything else important?
The trip's vibe and awesomeness largely depend on the travelers themselves, so if you like to stir up trouble or "mess with the minds" of the organizers and other trip participants, then this trip isn't for you. We've had a couple of grumpy ladies before who annoyed everyone, so if you can't control your mood – DON'T COME! The group leader is ALWAYS right (even if they're not), so if you've decided to join, you'll have to listen to them.
Payment terms:
• Deposit payment 35EUR (per person) to reserve your spot upon booking.
Since we receive A LOT of applications but not all turn into actual bookings, your spot is only confirmed and reserved after the deposit is paid.
Age restrictions:
• Minimum recommended Participant age 10 years.
• No maximum age limit for participants.
How much does it cost?
If you sign up now, you'll have the chance to join this fantastic Adventure for a fee of 35 EUR. Later, the Adventure fee will increase and you won't be able to negotiate for a cheaper price. The price includes everything described below. The number of spots on the trip is VERY limited, so don't put off signing up until the last minute 😉
Included in the adventure price:
- SUP Adventure with Illuminated SUP Boards
- SUP gear set (SUP board, paddle, life vest, leash)
- SUP briefing and technical support during the Adventure
- Adventure stories and jokes from the group leader
- Adventure planning and plan development
ADDITIONAL COSTS:
- Transport to/from the event
* We're not a package tour provider, so when signing up, you need to make this Adventure deposit payment which covers the Adventure organization, but the remaining payment for all other related services and expenses needs to be made on-site during the Adventure.
